Nudefest2008!
Flushed with the success of this summer’s inaugural event, we’re delighted to tell you that you can now book for Nudefest2008. You will have read the report of the 2007 event (and Red Letter Days’ Garden of Eden evening over the same weekend) in BN173 and on our website, so we’re sure that you will want to be part of it in 2008 – and we’ve added an extra day! This year’s event begins at midday on Thursday instead of Friday.
The location is the same 25-acre, 400-pitch, usually-textile Newperran Holiday Park that will once again become a naturist resort for the weekend. We have exclusive use of the whole place, and nudity will be permitted throughout the event, from midday Thursday to midday Sunday.
…and that’s not all. One or more (depending on demand) of the camping fields at Newperran will be dedicated to naturist use for the week before and the week after Nudefest2008, so if you want to make a real holiday of it and be in Cornwall for longer than just the weekend, the opportunity is there during these “naturist weeks”. Please check with Newperran for exact dates. During that time, nudity will be restricted to the designated camping fields, but Keith and Christine are hoping to have some clothes-optional sessions in the pool, which is being completely revamped for the 2008 season.
As before, we will be organising events and activities all weekend. If you have ideas on what you would like to see or be doing, let us know. We are trying to encourage people from the Special Interest Groups to come along and show people what they are up to and run an activity. There is no Garden of Eden evening this year, so we will be arranging something for the Saturday night. There’s plenty more waiting to be confirmed too…if you’re going to be there and would be prepared to help us run an activity, please let us know.
The naturist beach at Perran Sands is very close by, so people may wish to head there on the Sunday afternoon or during the naturist weeks.
Even if you choose not to stay at Newperran, you are encouraged to buy a ticket and come and enjoy the event as a day-visitor.
Visit their website or mail or call them on 0845-166 8407 (calls charged at local rate) to book your ticket for Nudefest2008 or request a brochure to find out more about Newperran Holiday Park, including terms and conditions of booking.
Questions and answers
What and where is Nudefest2008?
Nudefest2008 is a weekend of events and activities being run by British Naturism that takes place a short distance from Newquay in Cornwall at Newperran Holiday Park. Owned and managed by Keith and Christine Brewer, Newperran features a big heated swimming-pool (completely revamped for 2008), with sunbathing terraces, large pub, shop, café, takeaway, children’s and toddlers’ play areas, games/TV room, modern shower, washing and toilet blocks and an aviary. Should the weather not be good, there are plenty of indoor areas. It’s set well back from any roads, not overlooked and has views of the surrounding countryside, including the sea. It’s also only 2½ miles from the coast and easy to get to, being close to the main road through Cornwall, the A30, with Newquay and Truro, with their rail stations and other transport links, close by. Newperran Holiday Park has previously won gold and silver in the Camping and Trailer Magazine’s “Campsite of the Year” awards and been named as one of the top ten touring parks in Cornwall by Practical Caravan Guide.
Newperran Holiday Park is a 400-pitch campsite, all with electric hook-ups, so you will need your own tent, caravan or motorhome.
What does it cost to stay at Newperran?
This year, tickets for the event will be sold at a fixed price, irrespective of the grade of pitch you choose, the number of people sharing a pitch and/or your date of arrival. Tickets are £35 for BN members, £50 for non-BN members and £15 for under-18s, regardless of whether their parents are BN members or not. Food is not included in the price. There may be an additional charge for one of the evening activities depending on what we are able to arrange. All other events and activities over the weekend are included in the price. All tickets must be purchased in advance.
Can I attend Nudefest2008 if I am not staying at Newperran?
Yes. The day-visitor fee is £10 per day for BN members, £15 per day for non- members and £5 per day for under-18s.
Can I bring friends/spouse/family who are not BN members?
Yes, Nudefest2008 is open to all, though non-BN members will pay more for their ticket. If non-members join BN before the event, they will of course effectively save £15 on their membership.
Cornwall is a long way to go for most people. Why have BN chosen the same location this year if the Red Letter Days’ Garden of Eden event at the Eden Project is not going ahead?
We don’t rule out changing the location of the event in the future to make it more accessible to some people, but we had terrific support and service from Newperran’s owners, Keith and Christine Brewer, and their staff and they want us back as much as we want to be there. Incidentally, since Nudefest2007 we have had an approach from a holiday park elsewhere in the UK suggesting a sole-use weekend and we are talking to them about an event for the future.
