Coastal Challenge - South Coast walkBN Member, Chris Lamb, announces a walk for the MCS Coastal Challenge on the World Naturist Day weekend
I am organising a walk on the Dorset coast as part of BN's effort to support its charity of the year, the Marine Conservation Society. Walkers participating in this Coastal Challenge walk will meet at Swanage pier at 10.15am on Saturday, 2 June and cover the 20 miles to Lulworth Cove by about 6.00pm, although there will be provision for shorter options.
The walk will follow a section of the South West Coast Path, along a beautiful stretch of unspoilt coast. There are no towns, villages, roads or buildings along the way, so we should be able to remain naked all day, weather permitting. Two villages a short distance inland, Worth Matravers and Kimmeridge, give access to the path, so those walkers not wanting to go the whole way can join or leave the walk at those points, at roughly one-third and two-thirds of the overall distance.
This is a challenging walk, especially suitable for regular walkers, but anyone who is reasonably fit should be able to take part and complete at least one section of it. Swanage, Worth Matravers and Lulworth are all served by local bus routes, and if enough walkers bring cars, we’ll try to arrange for cars to be left at each of the access points.
Don’t be deterred by the distance involved – when taking part in a sponsored event, it’s a good idea to set yourself a real challenge and to know that your achievement will benefit a worthwhile cause. What’s more, it’s a great way to celebrate World Naturist Day, which falls that weekend. And if you finish weary and exhausted, you can just spend the next day relaxing on the beach at nearby Studland.
As BN recognises, being naked on country walks is entirely lawful. There is no intention of being confrontational, so we will exercise discretion and dress if the need arises, following the guidelines described in BN's Public Acceptance Policy.
Sponsorship forms are available for download here, alternatively they can be requested from katherine.stephenson@mcsuk.org. Please mention British Naturism.
